Observations
Observations is an amazing experience for future teachers to grow our passion and love for children and helping them grow as an individual. We get the chance a few times a week in the mornings to travel to different schools and shadow the teachers to learn new skills and teaching abilities. We get to grow the kid's learning by helping them and also get the chance to watch them grow as a student. You meet a variety of kid's and teachers that all have their own unique purpose they put into this world and you get to help be apart of it.
Timber Creek elementary
I got the opportunity to be in Mrs. Mayers classroom every Wednesday and Friday morning. She teaches 2nd graders in a colorful and peaceful classroom. Each morning they did a morning routine by taking out homework right away with a parent signature and going to the homework stamper station. She had 10 classroom jobs for the kids to feel responsible of a task. Having the kids have a certain task in the room makes them feel worthy and also responsible to do things on their own. She created her class environment with dogs and animals for the kids to feel safe in a fun surrounding.
Sunrise point elementary
I was able to get the chance to shadow Ms. Woulfe who teaches Kindergarten at Sunrise Point Elementary. Kindergartners are much different than 2nd graders because they are not at the stage where their brains have developed the learning process. It was exciting to help the kids learn how to rhyme and pronounce words they have never heard before. I got to meet a variety of kids and worked with a little boy named A.J. who had special needs. Ms. Woulfe set up her classroom with stations of free play, coloring, dress up, and much more. I got a good idea of how i would like to set up my classroom in the future. She had a morning routine of having the kids take out their level reading books and turning them in to get 2 new ones. It was a great experience.
